Every year, fires wreak havoc in natural environments around the world. They destroy millions of hectares of forest, kill hundreds of people and cost billions of euros. Yet, at present very little is being done to prevent and fight these fires effectively.
Although you may have already installed prevention devices, you may be surprised by the damage caused by these fires and their frequency. In Belgium, there are more than 10,000 fires every year and no less than 50 deaths.
There is therefore a need to act because every fire represents a real risk to the world.

THE PROTOTYPE
The solution : Fire Eyes !
Our solution is a fire detector with a 360° camera, autonomous and solar powered. The Fire Eyes works in network to cover the whole of your property.
The camera is connected to a central box placed at the edge of the plot. This box is capable, thanks to a computer software, of detecting a fire outbreak. Once the fire is detected, the device alerts the owner and the nearest fire brigade. This signal is sent by 4G network and is also accompanied by a set of data such as the location of the detector and an image to verify the veracity of the alert.
The aim is to provide 24/7 surveillance of your property.

What we bring to you
At the beginning of a fire, the flames are often very small. However, by the time the emergency services intervene, the flames have had time to spread. The larger the fire, the more difficult it is to extinguish and the greater the damage.
Our main objective is simple: to reduce the arrival time of the fire department in order to limit the damage.

Thanks to our device, we estimate an average time saving of several minutes on the detection of the fire. This results in the reduction of material and environmental damage such as the destruction of buildings, ecosystems, etc.
Secondly, our system is an alternative to costly continuous surveillance. Moreover, it also enables you to reduce the land arrangements set up to fight these fires which are often very constraining as well as expensive.
Finally, our system also helps insurance companies to reduce their costs. This advantage is directly reflected on the annual insurance rates through a reduction of between €200 and €500, if you are equipped with the device.

Who are we?
At the heart of this project, is a team of 8 engineering students at the UMONS Faculty of Engineering (Polytech Mons). With diverse talents and great ambition, our team immediately wanted to propose a project tackling an important issue of the 21st century.
